Hog Roast Grimscote duo Ben and Beth went to meet the bride and groom to be at their venue on Monday. It was well off the beaten track within the luscious Northamptonshire village of Chelveston. It looks like a road that will lead you to nowhere however, as Ben and Beth found out, it leads to a beautiful property with much land backing onto woodland. Ideal as a wedding setting but to these two lovebirds, it was their home.
It was Danielle who had booked the wedding food with Hog Roast Grimscote however, Danielle was unfortunately not there as she had booked the menu on behalf of her dad John who would be marrying the lovely Beverley. John and Beverley were exceedingly friendly and welcoming. It was wonderful to see that the preparations had already begun with the structure of the marquee being put up and an arch leading into the woodland.
One major bit of information the catering managers found out was that the groom, John is gluten free. Going over their menu choices, it was important that alternatives were discussed for John so that he was happy with what he was getting, and that Ben and Beth can be fully prepared on the day to ensure no cross contamination. For instance, the canapé choices they have gone with are the fillet of beef, smoked salmon, beer-battered fish and chip and the selection of mini quiches – all of which contain gluten. Knowing this in advance and having John there to speak up, decisions were made for gluten-free ways of doing these, for instance, rather than using brown bread for the smoked salmon canapé, the use of rye bread or even fresh cucumber rounds could be used instead.
Whilst discussing all the details and information, Ben and Beth found out that they are actually having the wedding ceremony in a clearing in the woodland, something exciting and new for Hog Roast Grimscote to witness! The area is the perfect setting for an enchanting and mesmerising woodland circled wedding ceremony, so Ben and Beth are excited for them!
All four went through everything for on the day, questions were directed and answered on both sides so that they finished the meeting happy with everything, especially giving John and Beverley peace of mind on the food front.
