Hog Roast Corby Smashed Smurfit Kappa’s Annual Christmas Party!

Smurfit Kappa has come a long way from where they began in 1934. Back then, they were just a small company, making cardboard boxes for the Irish market. But their hard work and dedication has led to exponential growth, which has seen them transform into a FTSE 100 corporation with more than 46,000 employees across 350 production sites in over 36 different countries.

What’s that got to do with Hog Roast Corby, you ask? Well, at the start of December, we had the wonderful opportunity to visit one of Smurfit Kappa’s famous bases for ourselves after being hired to serve a celebratory lunch for the company’s annual Christmas party!

Before this event took place, we had actually been booked to handle catering for Smurfit Kappa last year. But unfortunately, due to lockdown, they were forced to cancel. As soon as everything returned to normal(ish), though, their logistics manager, Lisa, was hot on the phones to reschedule.

The highly-anticipated holiday office party took place at the company’s base in Weldon North Industrial Estate on the 3rd of December. While we were there, our sister branch in Wetherby carried out a matching booking for their local Smurfit Kappa site in Yorkshire – they even served the exact same menu as we did!

Hog Roast Corby The menu that Lisa had chosen was, of course, our Full Festive feast, which took Hog Roast Corby all morning to prepare. With the service split across two separate serving times, too, our catering manager, Ben, had to work extra hard to keep everyone on target, so as not to disappoint any of the guests. Their excellent time-keeping skills and teamwork really shone through on this occasion, and they began serving the first batch right on time!

Between 11am and 12:30pm, the first group of guests, settled down to a full turkey roast with cranberry sauce, stuffing, cauliflower cheese, pigs in blankets, a medley of seasonal veg, roasties and gravy, which they chased down with a luxurious chocolate Yule log, smothered in fresh cream. The next group ate from 12:30 until 1:30pm, and they were equally impressed with Hog Roast Corby’s excellent culinary abilities!
