Hog Roast Benefield had an exciting job at a horse racing competition last Saturday. There were many spectators, 300 people racing or watching. As a sporting event, these large numbers are allowed with the correct safety precaution measures that comply with covid. The largest event Hog Roast Benefield catered for in a while!
Due to covid rules, it was table service so the organiser had a system in place where waiters and waitresses would take the order at the table via a tablet. The order would then arrive with the chefs at the back. The chefs would then come to the team and request how many rolls were needed for a table. Hog Roast rolls were then swiftly made up and given to the chefs for the waiters and waitresses to hand out to the correct table. Not a system that Hog Roast Benefield are used to, but one that they adapted to well.
Originally, the booking was for catering manager Ben to just drop the pig, stuffing, machine, gas bottle, bread rolls and apple sauce off but the week before it was requested for a chef to be added on. Due to the high numbers, Ben decided to bring along two trusted assistant chefs. When on site, they realised that they weren’t the only catering option, the pressure was still on as many people do not often get the chance to have a delicious hog roast roll, especially from Hog Roast Benefield, the leading experts in the UK!
Ben and his team will be attending a similar event at the same location on Wednesday, this time the numbers will be higher. They look forward to working with Lauren the organiser once more and have a second successful event.
