Agatha Christie’s murder mystery novels are widely considered to be the pièce de résistance of the whodunit scene, having inspired countless films, television shows, books…and even the odd party or two! Yes, you read that last part right, and just last weekend, the Hog Roast Denford team was actually hired to help out with a ‘Murder On The Orient Express‘ inspired event that had been organised on behalf of June for her 50th birthday!
Hoping to give the Agatha Christie-obsessed birthday girl a day to remember was her daughter Charlotte, who had organised for the whole family to take part in an evening of fun.
The event was held at one of the area’s local function halls, which Charlotte had lovingly decorated to suit the timeless theme of the murder mystery event. The results were phenomenal, and from the inside, the venue looked exactly like the iconic 1930s train carriage; full of glamour and prestige. And for added effect, the entrance to the hall was adorned with faux icicles and a carpet of matching ‘snow’, which set the scene perfectly for those arriving.
Ben and Beth, our Hog Roast Denford catering managers, had been tasked with taking care of the food for the night. And matching the client’s needs to a T was our Hog Roast Dining Experience, which offers a luxury three-course meal, complete with handmade canapés, a drinks service and a variety of gorgeous side options to boot.
With an assortment of five delicate entrees, two main course options, a pair of desserts and a meat-free dish for the guests to choose from, Hog Roast Denford’s menu successfully covered all bases by ensuring that everyone’s tastes were covered. But by far, the most popular dish on the menu that night was our spit-roasted, garlic and rosemary studded lamb with mint sauce and Yorkshire puddings, which went down a treat with June especially!
The birthday girl had a wonderful time, and her guests, who had come dressed to the nines in their best, 30s inspired attire, couldn’t get enough of the beautifully tender meat either, which perfectly complemented the fresh salad and other sides.
